The Power of WHY

              Many people have used affirmations for years, and they do work at times. People often say things such as “I am happy, peaceful, and grateful” or one of my favorites was to say “I am grateful and thankful for the fact that I am peaceful or happy or wealthy etc.” However, recent discoveries on how the brain functions have discovered that the neurons of the brain function similar to a binary coded computer. Yes, the brain is coded in binary. The neurons are either on or off. They either fire or they do not. If a neuron fires, a program runs. If it doesn't fire, that particular program does not run.





                The 4 sections of the brain include left brain conscious, left brain unconscious, right brain conscious, and right brain unconscious.  The left brain thinks and reasons.  It loves the affirmations because they sound logical. The right brain however, when it hears an affirmation such as “I am happy and peaceful” will look at the data and see if the data is 100% in agreement. If all the data is 100% happy and peaceful, it will fire the neurons that feed happy hormones into your system and you will feel happy and peaceful. But if the data is not 100% happy and peaceful, it will reject the affirmation and not fire the hormones. This is why it is difficult to get past the subconscious block with affirmations. As the subconscious brains analyze the data, they also look at what other programs are currently running. Often they will find programming flaws that were either inherited from our imperfect ancestors or programming flaws that come from believing untruths that we learned when we were children. In the first 7 years of life, children believe everything they are told, even if it is not true. In fact most of what we were told will eventually be found to be untrue. This is similar to taking a science book from the 1800’s. They believed the principles of science to be true then, but now, most of the so called truths have been proven false.  

After analyzing all this, the subconscious brain has rejected our affirmations.  So to take charge, and get past the subconscious block, we use the power of why. The subconscious brain loves to run programs because it work likes a computer. If we say “why do I feel happy and peaceful?”, the subconscious brain will love this. It is as if they say “Yea! A program to run!” This works similar to an experience that most of us could relate to. Have your ever tried to remember someone’s name? You ask yourself, “What was that guy’s name?”, and then 3 days later, the name pops into your head. Yes, that program has been running for 3 days. The subconscious brain has been pulling up and looking through all the old files day and night for 3 days until it found the desired data and then delivered it into the conscious brain. In this example, the program has been running for 3 days, but some programs have been running since before we were even born. Some programs tell us that we are stupid, ugly, fat, less than, etc. Others tell us to sing, be happy, etc. Using why statements puts us in the driver’s seat to become the true master of our souls. We can start to undo undesirable happenings and feelings in our life. We can shape our thoughts and feelings and life experiences into what we do want instead of what we don’t want.



As a B.E.S.T. practitioner, I have seen this principle work many, many times.  A good example would be the case of Donna. Donna has given me permission to tell her story. Donna was age 55 when she came to see me. She had had migraine headaches nearly every week since age 5. Using the B.E.S.T. technique, it became apparent to me that there was a program running in her subconscious making her feel shame, and that it had started about age 5.  In the course of her treatment I asked her if she could remember any traumatic experiences about age 5 that would make her feel shame. She said no, but that she had been abused at age 9. So we were working through some forgivenesses at age 9. Suddenly her eyes popped open and she said, “I remember now! There was something that had happened at age 5. It involved one of my grandparents and it was so traumatic, that I had completely blocked it.” So even if we block a memory, the program is still running and pumping the unhappy hormones. In her case it was causing migraines for 50 years. No amount of medication had been able to stop them. We treated her using B.E.S.T combined with why statements. She would repeat things like, “Why can I forgive this person?” or “Why do I feel so much serenity?” After a few minutes, the pressure in her head started to relax and within about 10 minutes, it was completely gone. By shutting down the programs, the migraines stopped immediately.  And they did not return.

Why is one of the most powerful words in the English language. It gives us the power to get past the subconscious blocks and take control of our lives. When combined with receiving treatments from a B.E.S.T. practitioner who is professionally trained in reprogramming the subconscious brain, miracles are plentiful.  Some people have hundreds, or even thousands of these programs running. It is like what would happen to a computer that has been on the internet for years without anti-virus. Some people eventually just shut down. They just sit and do nothing. We all know people like that. Others suffer chronic pain for years, or have relationship problems for years. Some things such as anxiety or shyness or any other unpleasant sensation could be from these programs. My advice to everyone is to start using affirmations with why statements immediately. So many people do use why statements, but they use them in the negative, such as “Why am I so stupid?” or “Why do bad things always happen to me?”, and they often do this when feeling emotional which sets the programs in very deeply. Turn it around and ask positive why questions even if you are not feeling “good” at the moment. Your brain will respond by producing “happy” hormones, and you may start feeling better fairly quickly.



Your cells have hormone receptor sites. Say you originally came with 10 joy receptor sites and 10 depression receptor sites. Each hormone works like a lock and key it can only get into the cell through a matching receptor site. If you chronically are depressed, the body will try to streamline the operation to be more efficient. When the cell reproduces, it will create more depression receptor sites. Say you now have 18 depression receptor sites and only 2 joy receptor sites. The body is trying to help you get what it thinks you want. So now you can get depressed faster.  When you change a pattern and start to use why statements to feel joy, you will have limited joy receptor sites for a while. Just hang in there and keep doing it. These are what I think the chains of Hell are. They hold us down making it more difficult to get back up. But keep it up and eventually you can break the addiction to the depression hormones and make new cells with 18 joy receptor sites. Then you can feel joy faster.
